Principal’s Welcome

Welcome to Good Samaritan Catholic Primary School, a culturally rich and diverse learning community. This is a special place.

The charism of our School is inspired by the parable of the Good Samaritan, which illuminates the life-giving influence of justice, compassion, mercy and respect on our encounters with each other.  We understand that our School is an important means through which the Church proclaims the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the world of today.

Learning for a Life Fully Lived

Our Catholic tradition calls us to be a pilgrim people, journeying together as we walk with Christ toward the fullness of the Kingdom.  In the same way, each individual person makes his or her own pilgrim journey; a journey of personal discovery and revelation. This is learning in its truest sense. As pilgrims we understand that our story is never fully written, so our plans are never fully realised; we are constantly drawing upon our tradition and also being called into new ways of growing and renewing ourselves.

Pilgrims are explorers and risk takers.  They search, reflect and contemplate. Pilgrims are learners.

In this context, our approaches to curriculum and pedagogy are deeply rooted in our Christian faith, and empower students with the essential knowledge, skills and capacities for lifelong learning and a life fully lived.

We envisage for each child that their time at Good Samaritan is a pilgrimage of learning and revelation that will have him or her pass through Learning Villages that are developmentally appropriate to his or her age and stage of learning. As such, each child will experience a variety of learning environments of ever increasing complexity and challenge, fostering creativity, promoting strong interpersonal relationships and stimulating excitement and wonder for the world around them.

We understand that, created in the image and likeness of God, each child is creative, oriented to life and love, and filled with infinite possibility. As such, each child can reveal something of God, which provides them with a unique dignity that deserves unconditional respect.

At the heart of all that we do is the child and how he or she may come into the fullness of their own unique self.

Our dream for each child is a life fully lived.

We understand that upon the enrolment of their child, families invite the school staff into their life and the learning journey of their child.  We joyfully accept this invitation as believe that every child is a precious gift we are privileged to receive. At Good Samaritanwe hold the care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people as a central and fundamental responsibility of our school. Our commitment is drawn from and inherent in the teaching and mission of Jesus Christ, with love, justice and the sanctity of each human person at the heart of the gospel.

It’s an exciting time to be part of our School Community as we are going through a period of development and change.  This is driven by our desire to ensure that every child has a successful and enjoyable learning experience while at school.

Please come and visit us – you wil be warmly welcomed!
